Mini Six Green Lantern Ring Part 2
After thinking about the ring, there was a whole bunch of stuff that I needed to add. While Part 1 was pretty cool, I am sure it would leave a GM and a player scratching heads how to handle other powers the ring gives, so I present to you, part 2.
Passive Force Field with Static Defenses
Effect: The Green Lantern Ring provides a passive force field that protects the wielder from mortal harm. This force field adds a bonus to the wielder's Dodge and Soak values against physical attacks. The force field can absorb up to 20 points of damage before it needs to be recharged.
Adjusting Static Defense Values
Dodge Bonus: The passive force field grants the wielder a +3 bonus to their Dodge value.
Soak Bonus: The passive force field grants the wielder a +3 bonus to their Soak value.
Example of Use
Calculating Dodge with Force Field:
A Green Lantern character has a Dodge value calculated as (Dodge Skill x 3) + pips. With the force field active, they add +3 to this value.
Example: If the character's Dodge Skill is 2D+2, the Dodge value is (2 x 3) + 2 = 8. With the force field bonus, the Dodge value becomes 11.
Calculating Soak with Force Field:
The Soak value is calculated as (Might x 3) + armor pips + any other bonuses. With the force field active, they add +3 to this value.
Example: If the character's Might is 3D and they have armor providing +1 pip, the Soak value is (3 x 3) + 1 = 10. With the force field bonus, the Soak value becomes 13.
Absorbing Damage:
During a session, any damage dealt by the attack is first absorbed by the force field.
The force field can absorb up to 20 points of damage before it needs to be recharged.
Recharging the Ring:
After the force field absorbs 20 points of damage, it requires recharging. The player must spend one hour using a power battery to recharge the ring.
Once recharged, the force field's damage absorption capacity is reset to 20 points, and the static defense bonuses are restored.
After significant use:
Recharging Needed: Force field absorbs 20 points of damage, requiring recharging.
Recharging Time: One hour using a power battery.
Additional Notes
The force field bonuses (+3) can be adjusted based on the balance of your game and the typical bonuses granted by other abilities or perks in Mini Six.
The specific conditions under which the ring requires recharging should be discussed and agreed upon by the GM and players to maintain game balance.
