Mini Six Green Lantern Ring Part 1
Today after talking to a few friends about gaming, and me reading DC Comics No Justice, I started thinking about making up the Green Lantern Ring power. My thoughts drifted to Mini Six and Cinematic Unisystem. I decided to start with Mini Six as that would a lot easier to do as it could easily be made into a "Perk" in the game.
Edit: I was thinking after posting, the ring would also provide a wealth of information to the wearer, since it has so much information and history with the ring. I've heard people in other games say its a super power search database.
Here is what I've come up with so far:
Green Lantern Ring (Perk) Cost: 6 Skill Dice Effect: You possess a Green Lantern Ring, a weapon of immense power fueled by willpower. The ring allows you to create hard-light constructs based on your imagination. The complexity, size, and strength of these constructs depend on the user's Willpower*.
*Willpower (Skill) Attribute: Wit Description: This skill represents your mental focus and ability to channel your willpower into a tangible effect. Only unlocked when buying Green Lantern Perk (Ring).
*Note this new skill is only unlocked when the perk "Green Lantern Ring" is purchased at character creation or the perk is given by the Game Master during game play.
Using the Green Lantern Ring and Willpower Skill
To use the Green Lantern Ring, a player describes the construct they wish to create to the Game Master (GM). The GM assigns a Target Number (TN) based on the complexity and scale of the construct, using the guidelines for general challenges provided in the sources.
Examples:
Creating a simple shield: Easy (TN 6-10)
Forming a giant green fist: Moderate (TN 11-15)
Creating a bridge to cross a gap: Difficult (TN 16-20)
Constructing a detailed working machine: Very Difficult (TN 21-30)
Constructing a complex machine with multiple moving parts: Heroic (TN 31+)
The player then rolls a Wit + Willpower check, aiming to meet or exceed the TN set by the GM.
The size of the construct can impact the TN. For example:
Small Construct (no larger than the character): No modifier.
Large Construct (the size of a vehicle): TN +5
Huge Construct (building-sized or larger): TN +10
Example of Use to create something
A player wants to use the Green Lantern Ring to create a giant green boxing glove to punch a villain. The GM decides this is a Moderate task with a TN of 14, as it's a larger, more complex construct. The player has a Wit of 3D and a Willpower of 4D. They roll all 7 dice and need to score a 14 or higher to successfully form and use the giant boxing glove.
That's all for today, Part 2 will be some other features the ring gives to a character and part 2 will be using the ring in combat. Stay tuned as I figure this out!
