Today's podcast talks about something that is trending on X about how Gary Gygax stated about how to play AD&D and Batman Tim wanted a wacky creature talked about today!
AD&D 1e is a virtual rewrite of OD&D with all the supplements and magazine articles included, it is more of a recompilation of the previous edition over the years, there is not a lot of content in AD&D 1e that you wont find already existed.
I have never grokked the impulse to venerate other higher primates. I can respect the role of a Gygax or a Stafford in the hobby, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to bow the knee to some plaster saint who should somehow be awarded a post-mortem authority to dictate what I do at the table (though seemingly always through the mediation of some self-appointed priestly class of interpreters who claim unique insight into ‘what Gary meant’). This is just one among many reasons why I’m really, really glad that I have never been on Twitter.
